CCE Annual Meeting

It's that time of year again, time for Cornell Cooperative Extension of Schuyler County's Annual Meeting! This year the Annual Meeting will be held on Thursday, December 10th, 2009 from 7:15 am to 9:15 am. We will be at the Silver Spoon Cafe in the Human Services Complex in Montour Falls. We will again offer a full breakfast, a short business meeting with the election of members to the Board of Directors and a keynote speaker. This year, Peter Smallidge, State Extension Forester and Director of the Arnot Forest, will speak on "Arnot Forest: A History of Solving Real-World Problems". Here is another great garden recipe. Especially if you have ton of zucchini squash to use! You can always freeze the 'burgers' once they are cooked for a quick heat and eat dinner or lunch.

Strategic Planning Survey

As part of the year-long strategic planning effort that will chart the future of CCE in the challenging times ahead, a Strategic Planning Survey has been created. Schuyler County residents are encouraged to participate, but please only submit one survey per household, whether it be online or in paper form. (If you prefer to fill out a paper survey, please stop by our office.)
The survey will be available until Friday, September 11, 2009.

Cooking classes at the WG Middle School

We are in the process of scheduling a parent/child cooking class series at Watkins Glen Middle School. Parents and kids get together to learn healthy meal cooking and food handling on a one to one basis with an instructor. Class sizes are small so you get personal attention, and you get to share time with your child in the kitchen. Kids are great helpers and it has been proven they are more willing to try new things from the kitchen if they've had a helping hand in preparation.
